Are you a client of St James Place?

The St James Place Review

Do you know anyone with funds with St James Place? Do you have St James Place funds? Are you a client of St James Place?

If so, you need to read this independent report. It concludes…

“There restricted approach coupled with their charges and fund performance would suggest that investors with a focus on maximising returns within a suitable risk portfolio, that is both cost effective and delivering on performance, would be better served elsewhere.”

It’s worth repeating.  “Investors with a focus on maximising returns within a suitable risk portfolio, that is both cost effective and delivering on performance, would be better served elsewhere.”

Those at St James Place will tell you another story. Of course they will, it’s their livelihood.

But the independent evidence is not good news to hear unless you choose to ignore the facts. I have met some of the salespeople at St James Place; Yes they are nice people. But whilst you want to deal with someone who is ‘nice’, you can’t forget that it’s your money, not theirs. It means it’s your future, not theirs, you are focused on. Most of all you have to protect yourself and your future by thinking about who you trust.

There is no doubt St James Place is one of the most successful firms at selling investments. The great news is that much of what they do, you can do for yourself, and make a better return. It doesn’t matter if you are saving for your retirement or are retired, you can improve your return.  And if you fear doing it yourself, you may end up taking no action. It’s easier.  But it is an opportunity missed that your future self would have loved for you to have been more decisive today.

The Yodelar Story.

William Deery, the CEO & Founder of Yodelar was an investor most of his working life, but (like so many investors) did not pay much attention. In 2008 William decided to dedicate time into understanding the workings of the industry, investment funds and various fund managers. His research helped him develop a clear understanding of which fund managers were pretending to perform well, which actually performed consistently better, and those who continually performed worse. Since then he has managed a very successful portfolio based on fund knowledge and research. In 2014 Willliam and a small team launched Yodelar with the core aim of distributing research to investors who wanted to improve their existing knowledge of fund performance, or for those who were unhappy or unsure of the fund recommendations from their current investment adviser.
